The L1 Blanket Visa is a streamlined option for multinational companies to transfer eligible employees from foreign offices to U.S. offices under the L1 visa category. It allows employers to obtain pre-approval for the transfer of multiple employees, eliminating the need to file individual petitions for each worker. To qualify, the employer must meet specific requirements, including operating in the U.S. and at least one other country, maintaining a qualifying relationship (such as parent, subsidiary, or affiliate) between the offices, and demonstrating significant size or revenue. Employees eligible for the L1 Blanket Visa must have been employed by the company abroad for at least one year within the last three years in a managerial, executive, or specialized knowledge role. Once the blanket petition is approved, individual employees can apply directly for the L1 visa at a U.S. consulate, speeding up the process.
