Expansion Worker Visa UK

 | Expansion Worker Visa UK

The Expansion worker visa allows employees and owners of overseas businesses to enter in order to
establish a branch.
This route allows you to switch to a permanent visa route called the Skilled worker visa once you are
in the UK. This visa leads to indefinite status and a British Passport.
There are two visas to this process which give you a clear route to settlement:

  1. A. The Expansion Worker visa from outside the UK, and
  2. B. A switch to the Permanent Skilled worker visa once you are inside the UK (optional)

    A)   Expansion Worker Visa

The visa requires that you establish the first commercial presence of the company inside the UK,  by opening a registered branch or subsidiary company in the UK.

There are two steps to this part of the visa, firstly we must apply for an Expansion Worker visa licence on behalf of the company, once this is granted we move to the second step which is to apply for your Expansion worker visa.

    i)   Requirements for the parent company:

    1. The company must be registered outside of the UK and be actively trading for 3 years or more.
    2. The company must not already have another representative, branch or subsidiary established inside the UK – the headquarters of the company and their principle base must be overseas.
    3. The registered branch or subsidiary company must operate the same type of business activity as the parent company abroad.
    4. The business must not intend to cease trading outside of the UK. A successful branch or subsidiary which outperforms the overseas business is allowed, as long as the parent company is still trading overseas.

    ii)    Requirements for the employee:

We will assist in preparing documents to evidence your employment, experience and relevant track record in order to demonstrate why you have been appointed by the company as a sole representative in the UK.

The Fees for this process are:

    Our fee:
    1. Company registration, Business plan and Licence application – £5500
    2. Visa application £3500

Provided you meet the above requirements you will be granted residency for an initial period of 1 year.

    B)  Extension/Switching to the Skilled Worker Visa

You can receive an extension of the Expansion worker for a further 1 year, if required.

Once you have arrived in the UK we will help you obtain a Skilled Worker sponsorship licence for the UK branch. This will allow the UK branch to switch you to a long term Skilled worker visa which leads to settlement after 5 years.

In order to qualify the company must have:
